Bounce Rate

Bounce Rate is a metric that measures the percentage of visitors who leave a webpage after viewing only one page, without interacting further or clicking to another page on the site.

Why It Matters

A high bounce rate may indicate that the content failed to meet the user's Search Intent or that the User Experience was poor. Improving content relevance and engagement is key to reducing bounce rate.

How We Use It at Soprano

We keep a close eye on bounce rate as this is a good indicator of content quality. Is the content too hard to read? Did the title promise something the page didn't deliver?

If the time on page is only seconds we often try to change things above the fold (The content user sees before scroll). If they read 25% of the page and leave we try to shorten the paragraphs or improve internal linking. If they reach the bottom and don't continue exploring our site we must create more relatable content.
