Competitor Analysis
Competitor Analysis is the strategic process of evaluating the content, visibility, and performance of key rivals to identify opportunities and threats. In the AI era, this includes Competitor Benchmarking within LLMs tracking how often rivals are cited by AI assistants.
Why It Matters
If you're not the brand leading in the search terms you want, it's easy to look at the competitors and spot what they are doing. By analysing the sources of citations, a brand can accurately pinpoint content gaps and refine its own content strategy. E.g. If you see that all citations in the search comes from a specific third party or earned media, then you must find a way to get your brand into that content piece.
How we do it
Soprano was started based on the need for understanding how search intent affects AI search answers. We were stuck performing the same searches over and over again to understand changes; we did everything manually in Excel and it was a mess. That is why we created our own service to regularly perform search queries to AI engines, structure the answer, and get the sentiment. This way, the path to improving our visibility became quite clear.
